The responsibility of architects has never been as crucial as it is today. We are facing a climate crisis, natural disasters and unpredictable events. Almost 40% of global carbon emissions are caused by the construction industry. We have a limited amount of time, money and resources. Therefore, it is necessary to find new and sustainable ways to create architecture that reflects the needs of society, uses available materials and responds to the local community, economy and environment. Architecture that is ethical, responsible and mindful of our future. The exhibition A Lot With Little presents the work of architects from around the world who are engaged in sustainable solutions in housing, education, building transformation and natural and other disaster relief. It offers projects with a social dimension that have a positive impact not only on the environment, but also on the local community. The architects whose work is exhibited here use participation in their work and are not afraid of bold but affordable solutions. They balance the lack of financial resources with their creativity. London-based architect Noemí Blager is the curator and producer of the international traveling exhibition. Filmmaker Tapio Snellman is a London-based film director and artist dealing mainly with architectural and urban themes. In the form of this accompanying catalog, the foreign projects are complemented by Czech realizations that bring innovative, clever and low-cost solutions in the four selected categories – housing, education, transformation and emergency architecture.

Odpovědnost architektů nikdy nebyla tak zásadní jako dnes. Čelíme klimatické krizi, přírodním katastrofám a nepředvídatelným událostem. Téměř 40 % globálních emisí uhlíků způsobuje stavebnictví. Máme omezené množství času, peněz i zdrojů. Proto je nezbytné hledat nové a udržitelné způsoby, jak vytvářet architekturu, která reflektuje potřeby společnosti, využívá dostupné materiály a reaguje na místní komunitu, ekonomiku i životní prostředí. Architekturu, která je etická, odpovědná a dbá na naši budoucnost. Výstava A Lot With Little představuje práci architektů z celého světa, kteří se zabývají udržitelným řešením v oblasti bydlení, vzdělávání, transformace budov a pomoci při živelních a jiných pohromách. Nabízí projekty se sociálním rozměrem, které mají pozitivní dopad nejen na životní prostředí, ale i místní komunitu. Architekti, jejichž tvorba je zde vystavena, při své práci využívají participaci a nebojí se odvážných, ale cenově dostupných řešení. Nedostatek finančních zdrojů totiž vyvažují svou kreativitou.
Kurátorkou a producentkou mezinárodní putovní výstavy je londýnská architektka Noemí Blager. Tvůrce filmu Tapio Snellman je londýnský filmový režisér a umělec zabývající se převážně architektonickými a urbanistickými tématy. Zahraniční projekty doplňují formou tohoto doprovodného katalogu také české realizace, které přinášejí inovativní, šikovná a nízkonákladová řešení ve čtyřech zvolených kategoriích – bydlení, školství, transformace a nouzová architektura.
